DAY 1 - Driving up to Akureyri
After we arrived in Iceland we immediately set off for the North, where we would be staying for the first four nights. On the way we stopped off at some sulphur fumaroles in Hverir. Here, it smelled disgusting (like rotten eggs), but seeing the steam coming out of the ground was exciting and a bit scary!

After that we visited the nearby Myvatn natural baths, where, like the blue lagoon, the pool was heated using geothermal heat form the ground. We also had lunch here, some delicious mushroom soup.

At the end of day we arrived at our rented farmhouse which overlooks a picturesque valley and rocky mountains, near Akureyri.
