Day 2 - Traditional Turf Houses
On the second day of our journey we took a short hike from the house up to a small waterfall and photographed some scenics views from the top of the hill. Afterwards, we drove to Glaumbær, a small outdoor museum of preserved traditional Icelandic turf houses. We ate some lunch at a lovely little teahouse and then visited the houses.

It was quite astounding how the houses were built - layers and layers of dried earth! Inside, we could see how the people lived more than 100 years ago. Overall, it was a very interesting and informative visit that everyone enjoyed.

In the afternoon, Daddy made a slightly controversial decision to drive to a far away museum about the history of the Icelandic horse (while some people were interested, others were, lets say, less excited..). Although the museum was furnished nicely, it looked like old stables and had traditional riding equipment on the walls, it was not the most intriguing visit. To drive back to the house we took a scenic detour around the Trollskagi peninsula and went through the tunnels from Siglufjodur to Olafsfjodur.
